Let's be realistic...

I don't often post on here but I do gaze upon the forums quite a lot.
I noticed somebody saying that playing Nolan will 'jeopardise our season' and we need to be careful we don't give our champions league position away to the Spuds. Why can't we all just enjoy being fucking fourth in the table rather than abusing the manager and the team who are, let's be fair, far outdoing season expectations?

far too sensible logic mate - we are currently magnificently performing above both expectation and investment and I for one, possibly two, am enjoying every moment
if we get top four it will be beyond anything in our history, fact, just being in the chat at Christmas is a dream from a year ago....
and for the avoidance of doubt, I have seen us over decades

I'm absolutely loving where we're are, but the pathetic threads on here I keep reading about Champions League etc., is getting beyond control.
We will finish 7/8th I guess and that will be a bloody improvement I tell ya.

I'd be delirious if we finished in the top 8. I still expect the bubble to burst so that means I will spend every moment of this success over the moon.
It makes me wonder if we're turning into an Arsenal or a Man U whereby whenever we don't win we have to slam the manager and the players.

I'm just enjoying this success whilst it last because for us it's always fleeting.
I can't be arsed to be 'furious' that he's starting or he's been left on the bench.
Just enjoy the ride.

Lets all enjoy it and who knows, there are similarities with the boys of 86, a few regulars finally showing what they are all about and 2 or 3 unknown summer signings taking the league by surprise.
I would be even happier with another good fa cup run....I would love it if we could take those scouse cunts out for once!

We are clearly not CL in any regard
The flirtation should be enjoyed for what it is - not deriding a draw away
We should build upon the development as a club be really proud of that - not long ago we were shit kicking a division below and only last year apparently all over the show

I am with you on this Plaistow and although I am certain that Nolan is past his best I cannot see any reason to abuse him in the way that many do on here. Imo he has been a good player and a decent captain for us.

Just 'enjoying being fourth' leaves you with not much to talk about. Even on a good run, the manager and players are still susceptible to mistakes and poor decisions.

For me, top 6 would be a great season, top 8 a good season. You'd argue that given our recent history top 8 would be 'great' but I honestly think we have players in our squad now who are genuine winners and they are bringing the others along with them.
If you look at the bottom half of the table, we are a better team & squad than any of them, so whilst keeping our feet on the ground we should now have an expectancy of staying top 8 with a target of top 6.
Top 4 and CL would make us look a bit daft next year or it may be a decider for some players when they are approached by us in the summer.
Acknowledging that we will lose some class in the African cup etc, we should still target top 8 as minimum expectancy now.
I've followed the club since '65 as a kid, and apart from the '80 cup run and when we finished 3rd with Cottee and McV I haven't bee so excited about a WH side since then.
Never thought I'd see it again, loads to look forward to now.
I would seriously consider trading a child to keep Song as well.. :-)

We have a very tough Xmas period coming up and we WILL have a bad run at some point, like Southampton are having right now.
Arsenal, Totts are picking up points and Liverpool I'm sure will sort themselves out soon.
It's gonna be carnage on here when we do eventually start slipping down the table, judging by some of the ridiculous posts after Sunderland away. Some on here are expecting/predicting us to beat Leicester 4-0! Why? Leicester have lost most of their games by 1 goal. If everyone turns up at the weekend and sits there in silence waiting for the goals to fly in....we might very well come right unstuck..
